20 Ad Angles in 20 Minutes: Write Better Meta Ads With AI
Free guide by AI with Zana · For online shops and service businesses · 20 minutes
Most ads fail before anyone designs them. The angle is wrong: the reason someone should care. Changing the image while keeping the same angle is like repainting a car with no engine.
Here's the process I use to get many angles fast, pick the best ones, and turn them into ready-to-test ad copy.
What an angle actually is
An angle is the one reason this person should stop scrolling. Take one product, a reusable water bottle, and you get very different angles:
- Money: "Stop spending €30 a month on bottled water."
- Identity: "For moms who are done with plastic in the kids' lunchbox."
- Convenience: "Keeps ice for 24 hours. Yes, in the car in July."
- Fear of missing out: "The bottle every mom at school pickup is carrying."
- Objection-killer: "Dishwasher safe. Finally."
Same product, five completely different ads.
Step 1: Feed AI your customer's real words
AI writes generic ads when it only knows your product. Give it customer language: reviews, DMs, comments, survey answers, even competitor reviews.
Here are real customer reviews and messages about my product:
[paste 20–50 reviews/comments]
Extract:
1. The top 5 problems people had BEFORE buying
2. The top 5 results they love AFTER buying
3. Exact phrases they use (quote them word for word)
4. The top 3 doubts/objections people mention
Step 2: Generate the angles
Product: [what it is, price, who it's for]
Customer insights: [paste output from step 1]
Write 20 different ad angles. Use a mix of: pain, desire, identity,
money, time-saving, social proof, objection, curiosity, "us vs them".
For each: angle name + one-line hook in the customer's own language.
No hype words (revolutionary, game-changer, unlock).
Step 3: Pick your top 3
Score each angle 1–10 on:
- How strongly it hits a real pain from the reviews
- How different it is from what competitors usually say
- How easy it is to show visually in a 5-second video
Give me the top 3 and explain why.
Step 4: Turn each winner into a test-ready ad
For angle [name], write:
- 3 hooks (first line / first 2 seconds of video)
- Primary text: one short version (under 50 words) and one story version (under 120 words)
- 3 headlines under 40 characters
- A simple visual idea I can film on my phone
How to test without wasting money
- Test angles first, visuals second. One ad set per angle, same budget.
- Give each test enough time and spend before judging. Don't kill ads after one day.
- Keep a simple sheet: angle, hook, spend, cost per result, notes. After a few rounds, you'll see which angles your customers respond to.
Bonus: The comment-section goldmine
Scroll through comments on your competitors' most-engaged posts. Paste them into AI and run step 1 again. Their customers will tell you what they wish someone would say.
