Find Your AI Side Hustle (Based on What You Already Know)

Free guide by AI with Zana · For beginners and wannabe business owners · 20 minutes

"Start an AI business" is useless advice if you don't know what to start. The best side hustle is rarely a brand-new skill. It's something you already know, made faster and cheaper with AI.

This guide walks you through three steps: map your advantages, generate ideas, then test one idea in 7 days.

Step 1: Map your unfair advantages

Answer these honestly (on paper or to AI):

  1. What have people asked you for help with more than twice?
  2. What jobs or industries have you worked in?
  3. What did you learn the hard way that others still struggle with?
  4. Which groups of people do you understand really well? (new moms, restaurant owners, nurses, students…)
  5. How many hours a week do you actually have?

Your answers are your raw material. Someone who worked 8 years in a hotel knows things a 22-year-old "AI guru" never will.

Step 2: Let AI turn them into ideas

Here are my answers about my skills and experience:
[paste answers]

Suggest 10 small business ideas that combine what I know with AI tools.
For each idea give me:
- Who pays and why
- What I'd sell (service, template, guide, done-for-you)
- A realistic starting price
- Hours per week to run it
- Biggest risk

Then rank the top 3 for someone with [X] hours a week and
little money to start. Be honest if an idea is overcrowded.

The 5 business shapes that work best for beginners

Shape Example
Done-for-you service Writing Instagram captions for local salons with AI
Local AI helper Setting up AI tools for small offices in your town
Templates & prompt packs A "meal plan + shopping list" system for busy families
Mini guide / course "How nurses can use AI to write shift reports faster"
Content in a niche A social account teaching one group how to use AI

Step 3: The 7-day test (before you build anything)

Don't build a website first. Test whether anyone cares.

  • Day 1: Write a one-sentence offer: "I help [who] get [result] in [time] using AI."
  • Day 2: Tell 10 people who fit the description. Ask what they'd pay.
  • Day 3–4: Post about the problem (not the product) and see who replies.
  • Day 5: Offer 2–3 people a cheap or free pilot in exchange for a testimonial.
  • Day 6–7: Deliver, then ask: "What was most useful? Would you pay for this?"

If three people say yes, you have a business worth building. If nobody does, change the who or the offer, not your whole life.

Here's what happened during my 7-day test: [results].
What does this tell me? Should I continue, change the offer,
or change the audience? Give me my next 3 steps.

One honest note

AI makes the work faster. It doesn't replace knowing your customer. The people who win pick a specific group they understand and solve one real problem for them.
